Y's by Yohji Yamamoto jacket - M
Legendary Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto learned the art of tailoring from his mother, a bespoke dressmaker, and applied the skills she passed down to him to creating his own collections. A master tailor with a distinctive style, Yamamoto launched his ready-to-wear company, Y's, in 1972. The underlying premise to Y's was to dress women in men's clothing, resulting in a more mysterious view of women.
“For me, a woman who is absorbed in her work, who does not care about gaining one's favour, who is strong yet subtle at the same time, is essentially more seductive. The more she hides and abandons her femininity, the more it emerges from the ery heart of her existence." - Yohji Yamamoto, Yamamoto & Yohji (Rizzoli, 2014)
